A small gathering of friends and performers old and new: offerings of extraordinarily gifted people singing glorious music in lovely surrounds
East Melbourne has a rich musical history. The Victorian Artists Society was the first home of the Albert Street Conservatorium, where Dame Nellie Melba taught from 1915 - hundreds of singing students were taught there. Just up the road, at St Peter's - Eastern Hill, her protégé Gertrude Johnson (1894-1973) founded the National Theatre Opera School in 1936. A fitting location to begin the series of celebrations of Gertrude Opera's first ten years - proudly carrying the baton of achievements of extraordinary Australian women in opera into the next decade!
Please consider making a tax-deductible 10th birthday gift to Gertrude Opera. Your support for our ongoing work provides a platform for people of all ages to access quality opera, with far-reaching community benefits, and employment for opera practitioners. All contributions valued. Make your donation HERE
If you wish to discuss a major gift or bequest, please telephone Chair of GO, Mr Bill Gillies, on 03 9225 8242.
We also have a range sponsorship - entertainment - hospitality packages available for companies and businesses - please make contact to discuss.
